Shade is the first blue Sheltie we have ever owned. We were not actively
looking for a blue dog but Shade is exactly what we look for in our sable
dogs-a future VCX-Champion. When the opportunity to co-own Shade presented
itself, we tried to resist (after all he is not brown). However, it quickly
became evident that Shade has so much to offer, that is was worth adding a
new color to the sheltieranch family.
Shade is a playful spunky guy who loves his tennis ball and his people. He
has a spark for life and an alertness in his eyes. He approaches new tasks
and strangers with exuberance.
Shade has 5 points from limited showing in the puppy classes and will finish
his breed Championship here in Florida. He quickly earned his CD in
obedience, his PT in herding and his OA and AXJ in agility. In agility he
went from novice to excellent in 4 weekends, with almost all 1st place
legs. Shade also looks very promising as a herding trial dog. He recently
earned his first herding title and is competing for his second herding
title shortly. By fall he should be ready for the trial level classes. He
is a lot of fun to work on stock because he has natural balance and
distance.
Shade does everything we ask with enthusiasm and a joy for the work. At only
2 years of age, he completed the requirements for the ASSA versatility
certificate and has only scratched the surface in terms of his future
potential. Shade is off to a great start as a versatility dog, and a loved
member of our family.
